American Idol - Week 6

Last night Constantine blamed it on the nights on Broadway, Carrie took Barbie and the Stepford Wives to MacArthur Park to find a cake recipe she might have given to an "old dude" playing chinese checkers, Scott tried to get us to love him with an everlasting love, Anthony begged us not to take his music away, Vonzell took on the role of every woman, Anwar tried to do something (still not sure what) in September, but in the end, there was just one vehicle that had us movin and groovin. Great night!!!

The performances consistently get better and this week was no exception. Anthony told us that he was finally coming into his own and it's showing. Vonzell really showed that she's a natural performer. However, I've yet to see anything that says anything other than Carrie will be the next American Idol. All around, I give last night an A+!!!

So, here goes...

Constantine Maroulis - Nights on Broadway

First let me just ask...what was up with the eye shadow smeared all over the place? The theme wasn't 80s glam rock...or did I miss that part? Otherwise, as Randy said, "...it wasn't like oh my god..." As another fellow AI follower said to me last week, his performances are "cheesy!" I couldn't agree more! As I said last week, Constantine has a great career in musical theater...but that's all!!

Carrie Underwood - MacArthur Park

Since there is nothing else to pick on, let's be like Simon and pick on her look. What was up with that Stepford Wife meets Barbie look she had going on? Ok, now that we've gotten that out of the way, I'd like to congratulate her on becoming an official member of Randy's Dog Pound (woof woof)! Still the one to win it all!!!

Scott Savol - Everlasting Love

Once again, mama is his song picker. Hmmmm...is bad attitude, anger issue, acerbic Scott really a mama's boy and trying to compensate? I think so! Guess that explains a lot. Happy Birthday to mom...and props on the good song selection!! For the first time in a while, Scott actually performed without pitch problems. Good enough to keep him out of the bottom three? Probably not. But probably enough to keep him in the competition one more week!

Anthony Federov - Don't Take Away the Music

Props from Randy! Props from Paula (ok, ok...big shocker there)! Props (sort of) from Simon (I guess in Simon's world "insipid" could actually be a compliment)! Anthony told us that he's starting to "click" and have fun! It shows!! Another good week!! I do agree with Randy that people are waiting each week to see if this will be the week he screws up so bad that the voters show him out the door. But, as Randy said "this isn't the week!" Nice job Anthony!!!

Vonzell Solomon - I'm Every Woman

Vonzell is so interesting to me! She does NOT have the best voice! She consistently is "pitchy!" But good grief, what a stage presence. I think it shows her greatness in that her stage presence makes you forget the "pitch" problems she suffers from. Simon was right when he talked about her "personality" carrying the song. And of course it didn't hurt that she looked HOT!!!

Anwar Robinson - September

Apparently Anwar decided those "technically perfect" comments from the judges were not complimentary at all. So what did he do, took away the only thing he had going for him...the voice...in tune! I actually called someone and said "is he seriously pitchy?" He said he just went out and had fun! Good for him! I have a pretty strong hunch though that he's destined to be "having fun" with his class of elementary students real soon!!! Based on that "all over the place" performance, I'm going say Anwar is on his way out...hopefully tonight!!!

Bo Bice - Vehicle

"Bo Bice is definitely back!" "The Competition is back on!" "The only authentically good performance of the night!" Those were the words of the judges! Here are my words..."WOO HOO!" For once I didn't even notice the bad teeth!!! He was the vehicle that transported me to another place...to use a line from the song, "great god in heaven, I think I love you!"

Vote right y'all...gee whiz, we've been sending WAY too many girls home!! It's starting to turn into a sausage fest. Balance is a good thing dang it!! And with that...I'm out!
