Quote of the Week

“I’m over it!! The president can have relations with an intern and stay in office but Paula can’t get frisky with a wannabe and keep her job. C’mon, Corey if you did have relations with Paula be happy its probably the best thing that will ever happen to you. You had no chance of winning American Idol anyway. quit trying to take away from the real talents' limelight. Go Carrie! With your fine self.” --Anonymous

Who's Out - Week 9

Anthony Federov
Well the fair-haired, blued-eyed boy finally out-stayed his welcome. He'll make a great, great, great something...I'm just not quite sure what. Good luck Anthony!!!

American Idol - Week 9

What to say about a week where Ryan proferred "...that's what happens when you lose a guy like Scott Savol..." as the reason for all the American Idol controversy this week. The one thing that can be said about Ryan's American Idol performances is that they are consistent. Consistently badly written!! Thankfully his performances aren't the real reason people watch the show. I have a feeling that if they were, people would be doing something Simon said about a past contestant...turning off their TV sets!

And speaking of controversy...I watched Corey Clark last week on the ABC special and have to say that this boy is ignorant!!! Paula, for all her faults (and they are legion), really doesn't deserve to have a quasi-pretty boy whose singing ability is suspect, blast her in an effort to jump start his career. I'm afraid his fifteen minutes of fame have come and gone...and not fast enough. Dumb ass!!!

Having gotten all of that crap out of the way, let's get down to business. This week our co-themes honored the cities of Nashville and Philly. Oddly enough, only one person nailed both of their performances. The other three did brilliantly on one of their performances then sucked on the other. Guess you can't win 'em all.

So here's my review...

Carrie Underwood

Sin Wagon

Ok, so we all know this little hottie was going to nail the country part of the show...and nail it she did!!! She made me want to climb onto that "sin wagon" for a little sinnin'! Once again I found myself wondering why I was groovin to country...then I realized that it's all Carrie!! She's gonna be HUGE in the country world!

If You Don't Know Me By Now

Simon kept it "real" by blaming this blase performance on the band. Whew glad to know it wasn't Carrie's completely lackluster performance that had anything to do with this bomb. Lucky for her, it wasn't bad enough to put her in any jeopardy!!

Bo Bice

It's A Great Day To Be Alive

Yeah, ok...it may in fact be a great day to be alive...but not if you have to listen to that gawd-awful rendition! Bo, you already know this...you are NOT a country star! Nothing more needs to be said. Moving on...

For The Love Of Money

Redemption is a sweet thing!!! I, like Simon, thought The Donald wrote this little ditty. Apparently though, it didn't spring from the streets of NY, but rather Philly! And brother did Bo do Gamble and Huff proud!! When this boy's CD comes out...I'm buyin' it! And I'm gonna be pissed if he doesn't include this number! "Make me do bad things" indeed!!

Vonzell Solomon

How Do I Live?

Someone said this performance was a "mess from beginning to end." I couldn't agree more. Like Simon, I think I'll leave it at that!

Don't Leave Me This Way

Yeah, if you sang everything like you sang this number, you'd find that I would NEVER leave you!! Wow!! After the first performance, I figured Baby V was on her way out the door. I think she just might have saved herself with this performance! "Manic" Simon? Well if manic gets me on my feet then heck yeah!!!

Anthony Federov

I'm Already There

Anthony knows the kinds of songs he is supposed to sing and the songs his fans want him to sing. And this week, he stepped it up. Power ballads, no matter the genre, suit him well. "Good job!" (thanks Paula)

If You Don't Know Me By Now

Good grief...what the hell does Simon know about soul? Ok, maybe a little...but I thought Anthony poured his soul into this one. Randy was right...sounded a little like Simply Red. Another good performance. Is it enough to keep him in the running? Hard to call actually. Apparently he's got a pretty big fan base...so...guess we'll have to wait and see tonight!

And so...that's it! The final four will be pared down tonight. My bet will be that it's between Anthony and Vonzell. But then again, the voters have screwed my predictions before...let's see what happens tonight!!!

With that...I'm out!
