Idol Chatter: March 18, 2007

Why am I not surprised?

Between those dumbasses over at VFTW and Howard Stern (whom I'm usually rather fond of), we've once again seen our lowest vote-getters be artists who don't deserve to be there while we've left ick in the top 10. Why? I guess in this world of haters, it should not be a surprise that people would hate the success that Idol has garnered. Sure, sometimes I'm a little peeved by the ego's that acost us, but in the end, I'm adult enough to realize that this show is about the music. It ain't about how big a mouth they've got or how much Dan Savage would like to ravage one particular performer's body. It's about the music dang it!!!

Stephanie Edwards absolutely did not deserve to be sent packin' tonight! Chris did not deserve to be in the bottom two. But because, in my opinion, people took the advice of a juvenile hater over at VFTW, we will continue to be subjected to the likes of Sanjaya and that hairless freak for at least one more week. And speaking of hairless freak...was anyone else besides me completely annoyed at his whoopin and hollerin upon hearing he was safe? Good god man...shut the hell up?! You're skatin' on thin ice as it is!

I know I'm on a bit of a rant...but dang it all to Debuke ya'll...hater's suck! My good pal foxy coxy said she might just quit watching. I know that's the result that Howard, et al would like...but it's the wrong one!! Sure Idol is getting predictable and has generated more money than god...but heaven's to betsy...

Steph...we here at Idol Chatter are saddened to see you go! Perhaps you did get a little bit old this past week but it was still miles better than that drivel we got from those who should have been in the bottom three!

Well kids...I'm off to ponder what this all means! And I'm pissy...so leave me the heck alone!

who's ur daddy?!

You know, this will be another week where we'll see a guy shipped off to no-where-ville (cuz you know, if you ain't in the top 10, you ain't sh...well, you know). Sorry "dogs" but that's the truth. Not that they weren't a million times better this week, cuz they were. But still, they are just outsung and outclassed by the gurls. Well, not all of them, although one proved again last night that he will ride the wave 'till at least the top 4 and, as one person at my house noted, will probably have his first hit single out before this season is even over...which prompted me to say..."who's ur daddy?!" I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'!

Speaking of last night...I'm finally settled in to my new digs AND the HDTV was on and poppin'! I gotta tell ya, it's so nice to be close to where all the action is...you see living farther south from Hollywood than I liked, I often enjoyed AI alone...ok, someone sound asleep on the sofa next to me, doesn't technically constitute alone...but still! Last night, we cleared a space for DJ Nik on the sofa and I gotta tell ya, it was pretty amazing to actually have some banter going on during the show.

Speaking of banter...we were joined remotely (via text messaging and telephone) by several faithful fans in the Bay Area. One of which commented on the creepiness of that space invader guy Phil. Honestly, I don't care whether the guy can sing or not...I just can't look at him...major ick factor. foxy coxy represented via the phone...although to be honest, she was a bit distracted and in need of a little gay advice. So, here it is for what's it worth...If a 50-something gay man can't have lunch with ya or send ya pics of hot naked guys that you both enjoy, he's prolly more work than he's worth. If he tells ya that it's because he thinks you're fallin' for him...he's definitely more work than he's worth. They don't call 'em "drama queens" for nothin'!

Having said all of that, I should probably get down to the few thoughts I managed to collect about last night's performances. So...who's ur daddy?!

Haley Scarnato
Tell Him

I just can't believe that Disney hasn't called and asked her to sing in one of the groups that dot their parks. You know the ones right? Usually you'll find a little gazebo with a group that just got off the cruise ship (Disney of course). They're good you know! But they ain't pop stars! They are Disney stars! And they'll make a descent living! This is where Haley fits in best! While last night was a "million" times better than her previous performances, I'm still wishing that the curse of "first" will send her to where she belongs. I will give her credit for being smart! Why you ask? Did ya see what she was wearin? DAAAMN!

Chris Richardson
Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying

This guy reminds me a bit of JT...you know...Justin Timberlake. I think I speak for all of us when I say that it is obvious Chris grew up idolizing boy bands. He's got the look and the sound. Chris sang the heck out of that song. No need to say anything more!

Stephanie Edwards
You Don't Have to Say You Love Me

Beyoncé lite! That's what Stephanie is to me! And I love me some Beyoncé, so, that's not all bad. To quote the dog himself...she was just "awiiight"! Not that she's goin' anywhere though! Maybe next week she'll do that knee drop thing again...(please, please, please, please...I'll do anything!!!).

Blake Lewis
Time of the Season

Hi daddy!!!

LaKish Jones
Diamonds are Forever

Well, I don't know if she really had on a million dollars worth of diamonds...but she was blinged out. Before I go any farther...I'm gonna qualify this by sayin' I love me some Kiki!!! Like the judges though, I was a bit underwhelmed with song choice. I wish, wish, wish she would have followed Lulu's advice and gone with the other. Not that she sucked or that she's going home...but...

Phil Stacey
Tobacco Road

Creepy is the general concensus regarding this guy! It doesn't matter if he can sing (last night he couldn't) because I can't look at him without my skin crawling. Probably why he was in the bottom three last week and why he's my pick to go home! Yup! You heard me! c-ya - wouldn't wanna b-ya!

Jordin Sparks
I (Who Have Nothing)

Ummmm...I'll be your boyfriend. By the time your 18, I'm pretty sure I will have completed my reparitive therapy and can be the arm candy you deserve. Hmmmm...actually maybe I'll retract that thought...but still...damn girl...you can blow!!! I'm not quite sure that I wanted to throw myself off of a bridge ala Simon, but I do agree with him that it was amazing!!! Ok...so the song is a bit depressing...still...yum!!!

Sanjaya Malakar
You Really Got Me

Do I really have to say anything about this pipsqueak? He's not cute (sorry all you gay bois and pre-teen girls who think he is)! He can't sing! So why the hell is he still there? Perhaps he's been doing his special hula dance for Ryan backstage. I mean really...why else is he here for?! It's hard for me to say he sucked last night, although he did - it's just that he sucks every night! And did ya see the little girl cryin'? What the hell was that about? Get a life already!! He'll be back in the bottom 2...again!

Gina Glocksen
Paint it Black

For once, my panel of experts disagreed with the judges! We liked her performance last night! And we aren't even rockers! I'm pretty sure she'll be safe...although...I'm not sure I'd be totally surprised if she ended up in the bottom 3.

Chris Sligh
She's Not There

While Chris and I share nothing in the looks department...we share a ton in the "growing up" department. I like him and feel a strong connection to him. That being said...I wasn't all that crazy about this particular performance...including his interactions with the audience. Not that he's got anything to worry about!

Melinda Doolittle
As Long as He Needs Me

I really find myself at a loss as to what to say regarding this amazing talent. I mean how many superlatives can one use? She was "flawless"! And apparently, she really is "that nice"!

Tonight we'll send someone back where they so desperately need to be (that is if we send Sanjaya, Phil or Haley packin'). If we don't send one of those three home, then it will be another AI travesty. Like that would be a shocker!

And with that...I'm outta here. Gonna run see if daddy'll let me borrow his outfit from last night...salmon shirt and all!
